Dark Horse Comics has announced Lady Baltimore: The Constant Death of Dr. Rose, an all-new three-issue series from Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden, Bridgit Connell, Michele Madsen, and Clem Robins. The miniseries launches December 16, 2026, with cover art by Abigail Larson.
The new story reunites Outerverse co-creators Mignola and Golden with Connell for another chapter in the supernatural world that grew from Baltimore. Lady Baltimore Faces a Horrifying New Mission
Sofia Valk has carried the Baltimore mantle since Lady Baltimore: The Witch Queens, continuing the fight against the supernatural forces that once consumed Lord Baltimore’s life.
Following the events of 2025’s Lady Baltimore: The Daughters of Medusa, Sofia travels to a remote community rumored to have been devastated by a monstrous attack. Instead of discovering a simple creature hunt, however, she is confronted by the ghost of Lord Baltimore and a warning that something far worse has been unleashed.
Their former ally Dr. Rose has been possessed by the living embodiment of the plague.
That revelation immediately raises the stakes beyond another monster-of-the-month confrontation. Dr. Rose was once an ally, and what remains of him has now become something that enemies can potentially turn into a devastating supernatural weapon.
An Old Friend Becomes a Terrifying Threat
Christopher Golden describes the Baltimore stories as pieces of one continuous narrative, and The Constant Death of Dr. Rose appears designed to pull directly from that history.
Dr. Rose’s transformation is particularly dangerous because the Nazis and the witches allied with them recognize what he could become in the wrong hands. Sofia is therefore faced with an especially cruel assignment: stop an old friend from being weaponized, regardless of what doing so may cost her.

Bridgit Connell Returns to the Outerverse
Artist Bridgit Connell returns for the new series, continuing a visual partnership that has helped define the Lady Baltimore era.
Connell has described Dr. Rose’s arc as particularly interesting because of how dramatically the character has changed over time—from a wartime doctor meeting allies in a tavern to something much stranger and more monstrous.
That transformation should give Connell plenty to work with as the series moves deeper into plague horror, occult imagery, and the increasingly bizarre corners of the Outerverse. She has teased the new story as getting particularly “ooey, gooey” and freaky.

The Outerverse Keeps Expanding
Mignola and Golden have spent years building Baltimore into something much larger than the original story of Lord Henry Baltimore.
Sofia’s rise as Lady Baltimore allowed that mythology to continue without simply repeating the original character’s journey. Her stories have expanded the supernatural conflict while maintaining the gothic horror, wartime darkness, monsters, witches, and occult conspiracies associated with the property.
That makes The Constant Death of Dr. Rose particularly intriguing.
The title itself suggests that death may not be a simple or permanent condition for Dr. Rose, while the involvement of the plague opens the door to something far more disturbing than conventional possession.
