This Day in Comics: The Eternal Warrior Arrives in Solar #10

On March 24th, we celebrate the first appearance of a formidable hero: the Eternal Warrior, Gilad Anni-Padda. He debuted in Solar: Man of the Atom #10, released on March 24, 1992. Gifted with immortality, Gilad stands as a master tactician and one of Earth’s greatest warriors.

Earth’s Call to the Eternal Warrior

When danger looms, Earth calls upon her Eternal Warrior to prevent disasters and deliver justice. For countless centuries, the Geomancers have relayed these messages to Gilad. This unbroken line of mystics remains in tune with the planet’s voice. The Geomancer of each era works alongside Gilad to fulfill Earth’s will.

The Mortal Origins of the Eternal Warrior

The Eternal Warrior’s journey began millennia ago in the ancient city-state of Ur. During an adventure in the mythical Faraway with his brothers Aram and Ivar, Gilad, then a mortal man, was killed. Grief overwhelmed Ivar. Consequently, Ivar convinced himself that a mysterious machine captured in the Faraway could restore his brother’s life.

The Boon and the Gift of Immortality

However, when Ivar activated this device, known as “the Boon,” it annihilated ancient Ur. The machine drained the life force from thousands and ruined the city. Instead of resurrection, the Boon bestowed immortality upon Gilad. His dense molecular structure not only makes him immortal but also grants him super-strength, some invulnerability, and a regenerative healing process. His millennia of life have also forged him into a master of all known combat and weaponry.
