Doctor Eclipse (June 15, 1993) This Day In Comics
Doctor Eclipse is a foe of Solar, Man of the Atom. He was originally Fred Bender, but after being defeated by Solar and left to die in the desert, he sought Master Darque and asked him to replenish his powers. Master Darque was himself a foe of Solar, so he agreed and transformed Fred Bender into Doctor Eclipse. Essentially Bender was endowed with the energies of the Dark Power by Master Darque and became in effect an evil version of Solar with great powers, including shape shifting, immortality, reality manipulation, soul absorption and teleportation.He proved to be a major threat for Solar and other heroes.
Doctor Eclipse debuted in Secret Weapons #1 (June 15, 1993).
